Elizabeth Ardonis Muncy
2025
Elizabeth Ardonis Muncy, age 79, passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Eulah Davis Moore, and by her son, Douglas Muncy.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Drewie Muncy, her daughter Lynette Muncy (Don Yates), her son Mark (Amy) Muncy, and her grandchildren, David Muncy, Josh Muncy, Anna Brumagin and Caroline Yates.
Ardonis loved the Lord. She cherished being a wife, a mom and a grandmother. She loved being a teacher, having taught all the grades from first grade to eighth grade. Beyond teaching at school, Ardonis taught Sunday school, and she taught everyone of every age, by example. If someone passed away, she would immediately start baking a ham. If someone had a baby, she would crochet a blanket or send a homemade meal. If a child needed a coat, food, or extra time, she always provided. Simply stated, she put others first.
Ardonis was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed reading, but she loved studying the Bible. She once had a television show on a local Christian cable station and was always teaching women’s Bible groups. She painted landscapes. She played piano. She wrote poetry. She even wrote a humorous column in the Mountain Citizen called “Bittersweet” under the pen name of Ida Clare.
She was a many-faceted, independent woman. She believed you could do anything if you could read. She believed in her husband, children, and grandchildren. Most of all, she believed in Jesus Christ and that He is coming back soon.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at the Lovely Freewill Baptist Church in Lovely, with Danny Hall officiating. Burial followed at the Saltwell Cemetery in Inez.
