LOVELY — A woman is facing multiple charges after authorities say she threatened state social workers and tried to ram their vehicle.
Police arrested Garnet Scott, 36, of Lovely, on Aug. 20 on North Wolf Creek in Lovely on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and third-degree terroristic threatening.
According to Chief Deputy Chris Kidd of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, social workers with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services reported that Scott threatened to “kick their [explicit] and kill them” during a confrontation in the Maynard Flats area.
While Kidd was en route, witnesses called 911 again saying Scott attempted to run them over and ram them with her vehicle.
Scott allegedly became irate after learning the court had ordered the removal of her children, telling workers they were not taking her kids before speeding away from the scene.
Kidd then went to 3131 Riverfront Road, where Scott was reportedly heading in an effort to flee with her children. Upon arrival, the deputy found Scott holding two young girls. He detained her without further incident.
Witnesses provided deputies with video evidence, including footage of Scott telling a worker, “You are not taking my kids, [explicit].” Another video showed her backing her vehicle toward a state car before the video ended when the worker dialed 911.
Scott was transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
