Operation Christmas Child workshops in Inez, Pikeville: Come pray and learn

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — Local churches will host upcoming project leader workshops for Operation Christmas Child, an outreach of Samaritan’s Purse that delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need across the globe.

A workshop in Martin County is set for Sunday, Sept. 14, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Inez First Baptist Church, 99 West Main Street, Inez. In Pike County, a workshop will take place a week earlier on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Meta Baptist Church, 8807 Meta Highway, Pikeville.

Organizers encourage both new and seasoned project leaders to “come pray over and learn about Operation Christmas Child while enjoying fellowship with other local, motivated volunteers.” They will be giving away free shoeboxes and other resources needed for packing.

The international project has brought joy and hope to over 232 million children since 1993 by providing shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and the Good News of Jesus Christ.

National collection week is on the 2025 calendar for Nov. 17-24.
