INEZ — The wait is over. Friday night lights return to The Rock as Martin County kicks off its 2025 season in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Bowl. The Cardinals will host Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. with the coveted crystal trophy on the line.

Coach Josh Muncy’s squad tuned up Aug. 15 with a strong scrimmage performance against Rock Hill (Ohio).

Newcomer Dillon Daniel made an immediate impact after he broke loose for a 24-yard touchdown run.

Senior quarterback Devan Maynard added a rushing score, keeping Martin County within striking distance through three quarters.

With multiple tests over the summer, the focus shifts to a battle-tested Lawrence County squad.

The Bulldogs, a Class 3A program, finished 8-4 last season with decisive wins over Mason and Clay County.

Martin County enters the matchup coming off a 9-4 campaign that ended in the Class 2A regional finals against eventual state champion Beechwood.

Despite graduating 18 seniors, the Cardinals aim to build on last year’s success and prove they remain a contender.
