
Nettie ‘Net’ Jean Marcum-Parsley
1946—2025
Nettie “Net” Jean Marcum-Parsley, 79, of Breeden, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Nettie passed peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born April 20, 1946, in Kirk, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Janie Marcum of Dingess.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Glen Ray (Mary) Marcum, Willis (Tonya) Marcum and Wade (Madge) Marcum Jr.
Nettie was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James L Parsley, her four children, Doris (Kenneth) Workman, Dawn Parsley and James Parsley Jr., all of Breeden, and Janis (Wayne) Collins of Wilsondale. Nettie is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Kandas Workman of Gallipolis, Ohio, Kenneth Shane (Kaylyn) Workman of Huntsville, Ohio, Laken Workman (Brett Keefer) of Point Pleasant, Makenzie Kirk of Breeden, Late Kayla Collins and Justin Collins, both of Wilsondale, and Maggie, Gabriel and Zander of Fort Gay. In addition to grandchildren, she also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Aubree Fitzpatrick, Kolton Workman, Garrett Workman, Henley Workman and Haedyn Hinkle; and four surviving siblings, Joann (Jack) Derosette, Paul (Della) Marcum, Earnest (Rosa Maria) Marcum and Bess (Richard) Marcum Muncey.
Nettie loved all her family unconditionally. She was also an avid gardener, took pride in her home and anyone who knew her knows she also kept the Pepsi company in business. She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her husband James.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church in Dingess, with Kenneth Workman and Roger Maynard officiating. Burial followed at the Wade and Jannie Marcum Cemetery in Dingess. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
