
James Michael Williamson
1958—2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Michael Williamson, 67, of Louisa, who passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born April 6, 1958, in Tomahawk, he was the son of Jimmy Williamson and Barbara (Hall) Stacy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one loved and cherished grandson, Xzaiver Witham.
James grew up and lived in Tomahawk for many years. He worked in coal mining for over 40 years and was known to everyone as “Indian Joe.”
James will be remembered for his dedication to serving the Lord. He and his wife are members of Fallsburg Tabernacle, and he was a deacon for many years. He loved to share his love for Jesus with everyone and worked tirelessly for the church and the local food pantry.
Survivors include James’ loving wife of 48 years, Dedra Williamson. They loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The couple also strived always to work together, serving the Lord and their church. Additional survivors include his son, Michael Paul (Freedom) Williamson of Lancaster, South Carolina; daughter Samantha (Tommy) Newsome of Lenore, West Virginia; grandchildren, Tyler Newsome, Alyssa (Peyton) Hensley, Jamalynn (Shane) Jude-Block and Andrea (Devin) Newsome; great-grandchildren, Ember Jude-Block and Ava Hensley. He also leaves behind a large host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Fallsburg Tabernacle Church, with Pastor Rudy Crockett and Edmond Hickman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations toward funeral expenses at the Crum Funeral Home in Inez.
