Three Tug Valley baseball players receive honors

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Three Tug Valley Panthers baseball team members received honorable mention in Class A All-State baseball this week.

The three were Conner Lackey, Tanner Kirk and Alex Vance. They played for coach Teddy Hall.

Tug Valley finished with a 14-18 record this past season in a tough regional.

The three players had some great stats and helped lead the Panthers to a solid season on the diamond.

WV Class A Honorable Mention All-State list included:

1. Conner Lackey (Tug Valley, sophomore, infielder, pitcher) hit .373 this season, second-best on the team. He had team-highs in RBIs (39), doubles (12), base hits (41) and slugging percentage (.482).

Lackey, a right-hander, was Tug Valley’s pitching ace as he was 4-3 with 4.12 ERA. He struck out 43 batters and walked 27 in 54.1 innings of work.

2. Tanner Kirk (Tug Valley, senior catcher) hit .390 to lead the team, 21 RBIs, four doubles, one triple and a team-high 29 stolen bases.

3. Alex Vance (Tug Valley, senior CF) hit .333 with 22 RBIs, eight doubles, one triple and 22 stolen bases. Vance played outstanding defense this year in center field.
