
Herbert Hoover Horn
1928—2025
Herbert Hoover Horn, age 96, of Royalton, Ohio, formerly of Martin County, Kentucky, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Fairfield Medical Center.
Born Oct. 25, 1928, in Inez, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Rufus and Emma (Johnson) Horn.
In addition to his parents, Hoover is preceded in death by brothers Cecil, Haskell, LeRoy, Rufus Jr., Gene Horn and Phillip Meade; sisters Lois Horn Stepp and Ethel Horn Pemberton; sons Robert Horn and Samuel Horn; daughter Donna Horn; granddaughters Brandi Horn and Autumn Lafferty.
Hoover attended Inez and Warfield High Schools in Kentucky and graduated in 1944. In 1959, he moved to Columbus, Ohio.
Hoover was one of the original founders and pastors of the Royalton Community Church in 1998. He was a talented guitarist and singer who loved gospel music. He was a member of the “Way of the Cross” quartet for many years.
Survivors include Hoover’s wife of 52 years, Garnett (Ramey) Horn; children Anita (Keith) Spurlock, Herb (Robin) Horn, Karen (Tony) Hutchinson, Larry (Marsha) Horn, Lisa (Andy) Harber, Rodney (Angel) Horn, John (Leigh Ann) Horn, Mike Horn and Suzan (Daniel) Nugeeness; 41 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service took place Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Royalton Community Church, Amanda, Ohio, with Pastor Benard Ferrell officiating. A private family interment followed at Amanda Township Cemetery.
