INEZ — The Martin County Senior Citizens Center will put two grants to use.
The Pallottine Foundation of Huntington recently awarded the center $20,375, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels gave the center $2,490.
“The Pallottine grant will be used to hire a meal driver and add 20 new home-delivered meal seniors,” MCSCC Director Jennifer Jude Crum said.
The HOKC grant will purchase and install LED lights.
Crum said MCSCC serves seniors by providing warm, nutritious meals to congregate and homebound seniors. The center offers nutrition education, information and assistance, recreation, transportation to and from the center, and exercise classes such as Bingosize, Walk at Ease and Arthritis Foundation Exercises.
“The pandemic forced many nonprofits to focus on providing basic needs with limited staff and resources, so we’re pleased to see our partners once again have the opportunity to initiate new programming that drives positive change,” Janell Ray, CEO of the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington said.
Crum said the grants would “definitely be a great help.”
