Futures ball handling class to begin in Inez

INEZ — Young basketball players in Martin County have an opportunity to hone their skills this summer with ball handling classes led by former collegiate and high school standout Robin Newsome along with Cardinals alumni and special guests.

The “Futures” summer sessions will take place on Tuesdays at Inez Elementary.

Each class costs $10 per participant.

The classes are divided by age and skill level:

5 – 5:45 p.m.: K-2nd grade “Future Beginners”

6 – 7 p.m.: 3rd-5th grade “Future Intermediate”

7 – 8 p.m.: 6th grade and up “Future Advanced Elite Group”

Newsome, a legendary figure in Kentucky basketball, played for the Lady Cardinals (Sheldon Clark High School) and went on to a distinguished career at Morehead State University. She is a highly successful coach currently leading the Martin County Lady Cardinals.
