INEZ — The Martin County Community Health Center recently underwent renovations to improve the patient experience and visibility of the facility.

A prominent digital billboard and lighted sign welcome patients to the clinic at its location on Route 645 near Inez.

“In addition to the new signage, clinic renovations include a walk-up pharmacy window for pickup and prescription drop-off that is currently nearing completion,” marketing director Temecka Evans said. “This change was made because the location of the building does not allow for a drive-thru window.”

Renovations also include new flooring, a concrete pad and storage building, a new rear exit, a break room for employees, and new data drops in the patient triage.

MCCHC is part of the Big Sandy Health Care Inc., a network of community health centers serving Martin, Pike, Floyd, Magoffin and Johnson counties.

According to Evans, BSHC serves more than 30,000 patients in the region and offers family medicine, women’s health, dental, optometry, behavioral health, X-ray, laboratory and 340B pharmacy services for patients in Martin County.

The clinic is a federally designated community health center and provides services to patients regardless of their ability to pay.

“MCCHC delivers about 11,000 patient visits, nearly 2,000 optometry, and 1,100 dental appointments annually,” said Evans. “In 2022, the pharmacy filled more than 37,000 prescriptions.”
