INEZ — Devan Maynard of Martin County just stepped onto a larger stage. The Blue-Grey All-American Combine: Kentucky Regional Scouting Report identified him as a top performer and a candidate for one of the upcoming All-American Bowls later this year.
The report, released May 20, followed an “invitation-only” combine at Centre College led by NFL veteran Ken Stills and professional trainers Keon Thorpe and Marlin Lynch. It describes Maynard as “Big and strong, always up for a challenge. The 6’4, 210-pounder did well.”
“There were many scholarship-worthy prospects in attendance and numerous others fit in that category,” the report said.
Maynard and 12 other players mentioned in the scouting report are now in the running for the nationally televised All-American Bowls, hosted at NFL stadiums and aired on ESPN’s family of networks or the Impact Football Network. Game sites include AT&T Stadium (Cowboys), Raymond James Stadium (Buccaneers), Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Falcons), NRG Stadium (Texans), and EverBank Field (Jaguars), among others.
If selected, Maynard will compete against top high school talent from across the country — a major opportunity to attract attention from college programs.
Even without an immediate offer, appearing in a report alongside known scholarship targets puts Maynard squarely on the national radar.
A member of the class of 2026, he plays wide receiver and quarterback and showed off his athleticism in multiple events. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds, recorded a 9-foot broad jump, and completed a 4.49-second shuttle run. He also benched 12 reps (185).
Maynard was not the only eastern Kentucky athlete among the top performers in the report. Caden Thacker, a 6’4, 265-pound lineman from Pikeville, was described as “big and strong … looked the part and played the part as well.” Bo Wolford of Belfry, a 6’3, 295-pound offensive lineman, is on the official roster and is already in contact with Conference USA programs.
“Moving forward, the Blue-Grey Football Selection Committee will consider a number of different factors before making any decision on potential invites to the All-American Bowl,” the scouting report stated.

Lafferty, Mullins get 2-star ratings
Meanwhile, Maynard’s Martin County teammates Crayson Lafferty and Kendal Mullins, both from the class of 2027, received invitations to the combine as well. Both earned 2-star ratings for their performances.

Lafferty, a 5’10, 195-pound linebacker and running back, clocked a 4.98-second 40-yard dash, a 4.79-second shuttle and had a 7’10 broad jump. He completed nine reps (185) on the bench press.
Mullins, a two-way lineman, stands 6’1 and weighs 295 pounds. He impressed with 19 bench press reps (185). His 40-yard dash time was 5.75 seconds, with a 5’5 broad jump and a 5.36-second shuttle.
Having three Martin County players receive invitations to the combine speaks volumes about the talent emerging from the Cardinal football program—and the work head coach Josh Muncy is doing to develop it.
“We are very excited for our guys who got invited to the combine,” Muncy said. “There were players there from New York all the way down to Alabama and everywhere in between. I’ve always known that our kids can compete with the best in the country—and I’m glad they got a chance to showcase that on a bigger stage.”
