Martin County Arrest Report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

David Joshua Brown

David Joshua Brown, 39, of Lovely, was arrested Monday for receiving stolen property, selling or receiving a vehicle with removed or altered VIN, and prescription controlled substance not in proper container.

Officers responded to North Wolf Creek Road, where a Jeep had rolled off the hill. When they arrived Brown was attempting to move the vehicle. Deputy Steve Putman noticed there was no VIN on the vehicle’s dash. Upon investigation, officers discovered the VIN was painted over. They rubbed the paint off, revealing the VIN of an orange-colored Jeep reported stolen in Pilgrim. The vehicle had been painted black and blue. Brown allegedly told police he bought the Jeep on Facebook marketplace. The police report states Brown had seven Klonopin pills in a baggie.

Deputy J.C. Kirk and Constable Bradford Preece assisted at the scene.

Ricky Bragg

Ricky Bragg, 20, of Warfield, was arrested Sunday on a bench warrant. Deputy Putman served the warrant.

Samuel R. Preston, 44, of Inez, was arrested Sunday on Leonard Preston Drive in Inez on bench warrants. Deputy Putman served the warrants.

Blake Spaulding

Blake Spaulding, 25, of Inez, was arrested Saturday on Rockcastle Road in Inez on charges of assault fourth degree (domestic violence) minor injury and a bench warrant. Deputy Putman responded to a residence on Rockcastle Road where a woman reportedly stated Spaulding choked her until she almost passed out and bit her ear. The police report noted the woman had red marks on her neck and blood on the inside of her lip. She reportedly stated she did not want Spaulding to go to jail.

Scotty Keaton, 29, of Blaine, was arrested Saturday in Inez on a bench warrant. Deputy Putman served the warrant.

Eric Sartin

Eric Sartin, 28, of Kermit, West Virginia, was arrested Friday at the Kermit Bridge in Lovely on two bench warrants. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.

Michael Douglas Mills

Michael Douglas Mills, 27, of Inez, was arrested Friday at Moore’s Trailer Park in Lovely on an indictment warrant. His charges include reckless driving, fleeing or evading police second degree, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security and possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine). Mills is under a $5,000 cash bond. Deputy J.C. Kirk served the warrant.

Helen Davis

Helen Davis, 68, of Inez, was arrested Friday at Quail Hollow in Inez for alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Deputy Putman reported that he was at Quail Hollow on another matter when residents of an apartment requested his help. They allegedly stated Davis was hitting and trying to fight with people inside the apartment. The police report states Davis admitted to drinking three Big beers.

Putman said he gave Davis a chance to go to her apartment. After doing so, she allegedly came back out, yelling, “Take me to jail [explicit],” and cursing at the property manager.

Robert Harold Drenning

Robert Harold Drenning, 48, of Beauty, was arrested May 14 in Inez on a warrant issued by Martin Circuit Court. Deputy Wells made the arrest.

Timmy Mullett, 46, of Louisa, was arrested Thursday at Quail Hollow in Inez for driving on a DUI-suspended license. Deputy Putman made the arrest.
