PIKEVILLE — The Lady Panthers of Tug Valley held off the Lady Wildcats of Shelby Valley 11-9 Thursday at the SVHS field along Route 23 in Pike County.
Bailee Hall and Emma Lackey belted home runs, with Hall’s being her third grand slam of the season to help Coach Rocky Hall’s team out-slug SVHS. Both had two hits in the game. Hall, a junior, has hit six home runs in her last eight games.
Hall had four RBIs and Lackey, a freshman, had three RBIs. Lackey, Makenna Osborne and Katie Hall all smacked doubles in the road win. It was Lackey’s fourth homer of the season.
The Lady Panthers had an 8-3 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning, but the Lady Cats cut into that lead with three runs. They continued to battle back, but Tug Valley was able to hold on and pull out the good road victory.
Bailee Hall and Emma Lackey both saw action in the circle for TVHS. This finished the regular season for the Lady Panthers with an 18-9 record. The tournament starts this week and TVHS is the No. 1 seed in their region.
R. Flemming was the losing pitcher for Shelby Valley.
Tug Valley 13, Van 0
VAN, W.Va. — Tug Valley, ranked No. 5 in West Virginia in Class A, clobbered sectional foe Van 13-0 on April 30 in Boone County.
Bailee Hall smacked another home run and had three RBIs in the game. Katie Hall had three hits, Emma Lackey 2 and Paisley Bolyard added a single in the win. One of Lackey’s hits was a double and she had four RBIs. Bolyard also brought in a pair of runs with her hit.
Lackey was the winning pitcher as she went the distance and had 10 strikeouts. She only gave up one hit to Van.
The losing pitcher was L. Albright for the Lady Bulldogs.
Tug Valley 10, Huntington 7
NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Tug Valley jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning and held the Class 4 Huntington Highlanders late to pull out a big 10-7 win April 27.
Bailee Hall, the starting Lady Panthers pitcher, helped her own cause with a home run and four RBIs.
Katie Hall led TVHS with three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Lackey also smacked a double in the contest.
Lackey finished the game in the circle to pick up the save.
E. Fei had a triple for Huntington. The losing pitcher was L. Leftwich.
