INEZ — A full-scale Rural Revival show originally planned for May 17 in Inez has been postponed due to time constraints. However, organizers confirmed that a free concert by country music artist Oliver Anthony would still take place that evening.
“We were originally going to do something in Paintsville,” said Brian Prentice, Rural Revival project manager. “We had a couple of months planning into it already and it kind of fell through. Somebody suggested Inez and we felt like we could probably make it work. But with the amount of planning and everything that goes into an actual Rural Revival show, it takes a little bit longer.”
Prentice said organizers hope to return in October for a full event. In the meantime, Anthony will join the Rural Revival Veterans Trail Ride scheduled for May 16 as planned.
Anthony’s free outdoor performance will take place the next evening in downtown Inez. The concert time is still to be announced.
Prentice said those who already purchased tickets for the Rural Revival will receive full refunds.
The Rural Revival Veterans Ride will begin at 6 p.m. with riders departing from two trailheads: 3548 Davella Road in Debord and 316 Wolfpen Branch near Van Lear Camp and Ride in Van Lear. The groups will converge at the entrance to the Middle Fork of Wolf Creek Road off Route 3 in Debord.
Riding permits cost $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents. A three-day pass is $15, a one-day pass is $7, and military personnel with valid ID pay half-price. Children under 12 may ride free. Proceeds benefit DAV Chapter 18.
Permits are available at Tobacco Plus in Inez, Verlia’s Kitchen in Pilgrim, FFAT Trailheads, Crossroads General Store in Johnson County, Family Foods in Boonscamp, Roy F. Collier Community Center in Inez and Cloud 9 in Debord.
Registration is available at gforms.app/jMBpDrm.
