Martin County notches win over Betsy Layne

INEZ — The Lady Cards took down Betsy Layne 5-2 on April 15 in Inez before falling to Paintsville 12-0 on April 17 and Tolsia 14-3 on April 18.

Martin County sits at 8-8 overall on the season and 5-3 in the 15th Region.

In the win over the Bobcats, Bella Muncy went 3-4 at bat for the Lady Cards. She rang up three singles and crossed home plate once.

Sophie Harless, Mia Fields, Raegan Horn, Hallee Preece, and Alyssa Mullins all registered singles for Martin County.

Marlee Grayson scored as a pinch runner with Preece, Horn and Fields making their way around the horn for Lady Cardinal scores.

Muncy and Keilan Jewell each racked up a hit in the loss to the Tigers.

The Cards will travel to Paintsville for a 6 p.m. start time Thursday. The squad hosts Johnson Central on May 5 at 5:30 p.m. and will travel to take on Fairview on May 6.

Martin County was scheduled for a 57th District matchup on Tuesday (April 29) at Magoffin County. Details were not available at the press deadline.
