Lady Panthers softball roundup: Hall hits walk-off grand slam to beat Sherman

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Bailee Hall belted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Tug Valley got revenge over Sherman with a 4-1 victory Thursday, April 24.

The Tide led 1-0 heading into the last inning. With two outs, three walks loaded the bases for Hall and she stepped up big-time with the walk-off grand slam.

The game had a delayed start due to some rain that came through the area before the 6 p.m. first pitch.

Hall also had a double in the game. She was the starting pitcher. Emma Lackey got the win in relief for the Lady Panthers. Lackey had seven strikeouts in three innings and only gave up one walk.

Paisley Bolyard, Katie Hall, Meghan Osborne and Bryleigh Fletcher also had singles for TVHS.

It was Senior Night for Tug Valley’s team. Makenna Osborne is the lone senior on the roster and was honored before the start of the game.

Emma Russell was the losing pitcher in the circle for Sherman.

Tug Valley 7, St. Joe 2

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Tug Valley defeated regional rival Huntington St. Joe 7-2 in high school softball action April 22.

The Lady Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Irish tied the game in the third with two runs of their own. TVHS added a run in the third and four more in the fifth frame to pull ahead.

Bailee Hall, Paisley Bolyard and Meghan Osborne all pounded out two hits, with Hall and Bolyard smacking doubles. Bolyard had two RBIs to help Tug Valley with the win.

A. Stubblefield had a double and C. Walls a triple to lead St. Joe at the plate.

B. Hall was the winning pitcher. She went four innings with 10 strikeouts and only one walk. Emma Lackey pitched three innings in relief and had four Ks.

K. Oxley was the losing pitcher in the circle for the visitors.

Tug Valley 16, Tolsia 5

GLEN HAYES, W.Va. — Tug Valley clobbered local rival Tolsia 16-5 on Wednesday, April 23 to improve their seeding as tournament time inches closer.

The Lady Panthers pounded out 16 hits in the win. Freshman Katie Hall led the way with four hits, including three RBIs. Bailee Hall, Emma Lackey and Meghan Osborne all had three hits. Paisley Bolyard had two hits and Aleksah Osborne had a single for Coach Rocky Hall’s squad.

Osborne, Bolyard and K. Hall all had two RBIs. Lackey belted a triple and double in the win, while M. Osborne had a double.

B. Hall was the winning pitcher and Emma Lackey came on in relief. Both had six strikeouts in the contest.

K. Maynard had two hits for the Lady Rebels, while M. Meddings belted a triple.

K. Salmons took the loss on the mound for Tolsia.

Sherman 6, Tug Valley 3

SETH, W.Va. — The Lady Panthers fell to regional foe Sherman 6-3 Saturday, April 19.

Tug Valley held a 3-2 lead, but Sherman plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead and held on in the seventh to pull out the home-field win.

Lexie Lowe had the big hit for the Tide belting a home run. K. Stewart had a pair of hits for Sherman.

Emma Lackey, Katie Hall and Paisley Bolyard all smacked doubles for Tug Valley.

Bailee Hall took the loss in the circle for the Lady Panthers. She had nine strikeouts and only one walk, but Sherman scored all six runs while Hall was pitching.

Harless was the winning pitcher for Sherman.
