WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department recently made a third arrest in connection with the March 31 murder of a Delbarton woman.
Brittany Garlock, of Rockhouse Creek Road in Delbarton, was arrested May 23 in Charleston by the U.S. Marshal’s CUFFED Task Force on the charge of accessory after the fact. The warrant for her arrest was executed May 20 by Mingo County Magistrate Jim Harvey.
Garlock, 30, along with Alex Dewayne Likens, 36, of Ragland, and Chace M. Prater, 27, of Williamson, is currently in custody at the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden as part of an ongoing investigation into the shooting death of Teresa Harmon.
The original criminal complaint against Prater, when he was arrested April 22, alleges he shot Harmon, his aunt, in the head, causing her death.
Likens and Prater face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Records from the Mingo County Magistrate Court state that Garlock was first questioned April 26 by Mingo County Sheriff Sgt. N. Mines and Cpl. R. Fitch. The document further states: “During her questioning, she was asked about the location of the murder weapon that she admitted to having in her possession after the murder. She told officers that she did not know what happened to the firearm; it had been stolen out of her camper; and she believed it had been transferred to numerous individuals but did not know where.”
According to court documents, the officer told Garlock that Likens (her boyfriend) had told them she had the gun in her possession.
The arrest records said that Garlock had allegedly transferred the gun to another person without Likens’ knowledge.
