Nine more candidates

INEZ — Martin County nonpartisan races are set for Nov. 8 as Tuesday was the deadline to register.

Several more candidates filed their paperwork last week in the Martin County Clerk’s Office.

Warfield City Commissioners John P. Sammons, Robert David Bell, and Crystal Dawn Bell are all running for re-election. Newcomer Robert Bell tossed his hat into the ring for a seat on the Warfield City Commission.

Inez residents Barry Horn and Roy Martin Penix both registered to run for Inez City Commissioner. They join Inez Commissioner Terry Fraley and resident Floyd David Jude in the Inez City Commission race.

Three candidates are running for Martin County Soil Conservation Officer. Stephen Bowman of Inez, Thomas J. Dials of Warfield, and Riley Maynard of Inez will face off in the general election.

Martin County Board of Education Member Mickey McCoy seeks re-election in District 1. He has served since being elected in 2014 and is unopposed.

In the District 2 BOE race, incumbent James “Bowie” Clark is unopposed.

Warfield City Commissioner Michael D. Hinkle is the only candidate in the Warfield Mayor race.

Two candidates are running for the Inez Mayor seat, incumbent Mayor Ed Daniels and Inez City Commissioner Dennis Hall.
