Three Cardinals win state titles

CORBIN — What started as a team of primarily first-year wrestlers turned into a group of solid matmen and a state runner-up finish for Martin County Youth Wrestling. The Cardinals closed the 2021-2022 season giving up a narrow 197.5-189 decision to Pikeville’s Warhawks in the state championship Sunday at Corbin Arena.
Three Martin County wrestlers claimed individual state titles while the team had 14 podium finishes.
