INEZ — As winter settles in and brings with it the urge to stay indoors, Martin County Senior Citizens Center director Jennifer Crum has an alternative. The center is offering arthritis exercise classes for those with arthritis or joint conditions who find traditional exercise challenging.

“If you’re experiencing joint pain and stiffness, you don’t have to let it keep you from staying active,” Crum said.

The center, located at 123 Old Middle Fork Road in Inez, offers the sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program-based classes include gentle exercises to improve joint flexibility, enhance range of motion and maintain muscle strength.

Crum says participants in arthritis exercise programs can benefit from reduced pain and increased mobility, improved strength and flexibility, and confidence in maintaining an active lifestyle despite arthritis.

Each session lasts about an hour and is free and open to the public.

Call Crum at 606-298-3459 for more information.
