
Clancy Fields
1950—2025
Clancy Fields, age 74 of Kermit, West Virginia, passed away Feb. 8, 2025, at his residence with his family.
He was born Feb. 11, 1950, to the late Delbert Lee Fields and Isabelle Dillion.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in his death by his siblings: Benny, Thomas, Chris, Birdie, Herbert, George (Wash), Delphia, Vicie and Barbara.
He was in the Fields Brothers Bluegrass, best known for the song of “West Virginia,” he was a bluegrass musician.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Odessa Colins Fields, sons Howard Collins, Justin Lee Fields, Clancy Eugene Fields, Charlie Ray Spencer, Andy Fields, Clancy Fields Jr., 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind brothers Lester (Aileen) Fields, Albert (Atheline) Fields and Tommy Copley, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 14 at the Riverbend Freewill Baptist Church with Ken Allen officiating. Burial followed at the Fields Messer Cemetery. Mullins Family Funeral Home is privileged to serve the family.
