Sammy Spence

1949—2025

Sammy Spence, 75, of Tomahawk, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 4, 2025, with his family by his side.

He was born April 16, 1949 to Benjamin “Sherill” Spence and Mary Jean Collins Spence, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by brothers Roy and Albert Spence, sisters, Minnie Sue Smith, Pearl Litton, Barbara Butcher, Bessie Anderson and Betty Spence.

Sammy is also preceded in death by his first wife Catherine Crum and son Terry Whitt.

Survivors include his children Nicole Spence and Lisa Marcum, both of Kermit, West Virginia, Barb (James) Pack of Crum, West Virginia, Rosalie Whitt of Chapmanville, West Virginia; Lou (Ollie) Dingess of Hode and John (Sommer) Spence of Tomahawk. He is also survived by a brother Donald Spence, a sister Ruby Spence-Dheel, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez. Burial followed at the Spence Cemetery in Tomahawk under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
