Elizabeth Jane Marcum
1957—2025
Elizabeth Jane “Janie” Marcum, 67, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 29, 2025.
Janie accepted Jesus Christ into her heart Oct. 12, 1980, and had an unwavering faith in God that she shared with those around her throughout her entire life.
Born Sept. 12, 1957, in Detroit, she was the daughter of the late George and Libby Kolka.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Mark and sister, Judy.
Janie met her husband, Donald Marcum, in 1978 while working at Automotive Molding. They married Oct. 10, 1979, and went on to raise two wonderful children, Thomas and Lisa Marie.
From the moment you met Janie, it felt as if you had known her forever. Her presence had a way of lighting up any room and filling it with laughter, comfort, and an undeniable sense of belonging. She embraced life with an open heart, welcoming everyone as if they were family. One could expect to hear, “Come on in!” when stopping by her house. It was a genuine expression of the love and compassion that she had for others.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and loving mother, she was always up for adventure. She shared many travel experiences with her husband, family and friends throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, attending bible study groups, and ‘competitively’ playing games with friends and neighbors. She absolutely adored her puppy, Rex.
Janie is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; her children, Thomas (Toni) and Lisa Marie (Clayton); her grandchildren, Skyler and Nathan; her sisters, Debbie, Sandy (Dale) and Patty; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friends Destini, Cheryl and Sherry.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14: “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.”
