INEZ — The Martin County Fiscal Court voted Thursday to rename the bridge at Mullett Branch in honor of Denny Ray Moore, a longtime resident and former road foreman. The bridge off Coldwater Road will now bear the name “Denny Ray Moore Bridge.”

Moore served as the county’s road foreman for several years after being appointed by Judge Lafferty during his first term in office.

Lafferty noted the significance of recognizing Moore, who he referred to as a friend.

“It’s important that we recognize people and their goodness—and that’s what we’re doing here today,” Lafferty said.

Moore, visibly moved, posed for a photograph with newly unveiled sign alongside the judge and magistrates.

“I never expected anything like this in my life,” Moore said. “I’m honored; I’m touched.”
