Rebecca ‘Becky’ Sartin
1926—2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Rebecca “Becky” Sartin, who peacefully left us Dec. 28, 2024 at the age of 98.
A cherished matriarch, Becky was known for her unwavering love, boundless generosity, and strength that shaped and inspired all who knew her.
Born Oct. 11, 1926 in Martin County, Becky was a woman of deep faith, warmth and wisdom. Throughout her life, she demonstrated a remarkable ability to nurture those around her, offering her wisdom and comfort in times of joy and sorrow. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to resonate for generations.
She was a devoted mother to daughters Martha Castle (Chuck), Mary Farmer, Hattie Blevins, Judith Sartin, Margaret Marcum (Lewis) and son Okey Sartin. She was a grandmother to Karen Castle Stewart, Melissa Castle Stepp, Sandy Farmer Jarrell, Walter Farmer, Ernie Farmer, June Blevins, Jason Blevins, Gary Moore, Angie Moore Smith, Joey Marcum, Miranda Marcum, Okey Sartin Jr. and Rebecca Ann Sartin.
Great-grandchildren include Katelyn, Brianna, Haley, Vada, Jennifer, Benji, Bobby, Tyler, Lexie, Cody, Jordan, Jenna, Jonna, Kaylee, Jay, Larissa, Shelby, Josh, John, Makayla, Jacob, Candace, Joey and Ethan. There are too many great-great and great-great-great grandchildren to be listed, but they were all loved tremendously.
Becky is survived by her daughters Martha, Mary, Judith and Margaret, her sister Vinnie Sue Preece and her brother Richard Maynard.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vicie and Ben Maynard; her husband, Okey Sartin; her daughters, Hattie Blevins and Donna Sartin; her son, Okey Ray Sartin; her grandsons, Okey Ray Sartin Jr., Roger Dale Blevins and Charles Ray Blevins, her granddaughter Rebecca Ann Sartin, her great-granddaughters Shelby Davis and Jenna Hodge, her great-grandson Jay Blevins, her sisters Violet Harmon, Omie Adkins, Mary Justice and Mavis Preece, and her brothers Bob Maynard, Elic Maynard and Chester Maynard.
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 at the Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield. Burial followed at Mountain View Memory Garden in Maher, West Virginia. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home of Inez.
