CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

PRESTONSBURG — It was another follow-up investigation for Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies until K9 officer “Zoe” turned the day into a headline. Acting on a search warrant, deputies descended on Roy Gipson’s home on Frank Arnett Drive in the Abbott Creek area of Prestonsburg just before 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

What they uncovered was nearly half a pound of crystal meth, 17 grams of heroin, prescription pills and a stash of firearms.

Gipson, 56, now faces a sleigh full of charges, including trafficking in crystal meth, heroin and prescription pills, attempting to flee and evade capture, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and giving false identification to authorities.
