Editor:
Come join us on May 28 to help bring awareness to veteran suicide. According to a study done by the Veterans Administration in 2015, there are approximately 22 veterans who commit suicide daily. That is one veteran every 65 minutes. This is a real problem that veterans are facing, so I welcome you and your family to join me and my organization to help bring awareness to this problem we are facing. Bringing awareness is the first step to helping solve the problem.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. We will start the march between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
T-shirts and wristbands will be made available to marchers before the march between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. while supplies last. Supplies are limited and sizes are limited, so get there early.
The march will start at Starfire Hill in Paintsville and end at the intersection of Routes 40 and 321, past Walmart in Paintsville. The highway is named Fallen Heroes Memorial Highway. This is a 3-mile march, and there will be two stops in between. One stop will be Hutch Ford in Paintsville, and the other stop will be the plaza across from the post office. Each stop will be about 15-20 minutes for everyone to use the bathroom and get hydrated. Marchers will be shuttled back to their vehicles after the march ends.
At the end of the march, there will be pizza available to those that were on the march.
This march is being sponsored by the Veterans Coalition for Quality Healthcare and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18.
Thank you.
I hope to see everyone there. We need you.
