PIKEVILLE — The consequences of a major drug haul landed hard for a Pikeville woman. On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves sentenced 37-year-old Sasha Adkins of Jonancy to 135 months in prison for possessing and intending to distribute more than 50 grams of meth and a stash of fentanyl.
The case unfolded last summer on June 16, 2023, when law enforcement raided Adkins’ residence. The haul included 360 grams of meth, 28 grams of fentanyl, $4,975 in cash, and a not-so-casual collection of 12 firearms.
Adkins intended to distribute the drugs, according to her plea agreement.
Federal sentencing rules mean Adkins will serve at least 85% of her term. After her release, she will remain under U.S. Probation Office supervision for five years.
U.S. Attorney Carlton S. Shier IV, FBI Louisville Special Agent in Charge Michael Stansbury, and Kentucky State Police Commissioner Col. Phillip J. Burnett Jr. jointly announced the sentence. The FBI and Kentucky State Police handled the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew Trimble brought the case home.
