Martin County Water District Workgroup to meet Dec. 16

FRANKFORT — The Martin County Water District (MCWD) Workgroup will meet by video conference via Microsoft Teams on Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. EST, the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) announced.

EEC Secretary Rebecca Goodman leads the Workgroup, which the EEC established in 2020.

The Workgroup includes representatives from the EEC, the Martin County Water District, MCWD’s contract manager Alliance Water Resources, Kentucky Rural Water Associates, the University of Kentucky and Big Sandy Area Development District. Other participants include representatives from Martin County Concerned Citizens, engineering firms and law offices.

During the quarterly meetings, the group addresses operational requirements, financial planning, long-term strategy and the development of necessary tools. The Workgroup also provides updates on projects, upgrades and compliance efforts. It serves as a platform for open discussions and support.
