The summer reading program begins June 7 at the Martin County Public Library Collier Center in Inez and June 8 at Rufus Reed Branch Library in Lovely.
The program is designed to emphasize and illustrate the joy of reading and reduce the loss of reading skills during summer break. It is free and available to children aged birth to age 18.
Programs, including performances, crafts, games, and reading activities for each age group, are held weekly and will be based on the 2022 theme, “Oceans of Possibilities.”
The program is each Tuesday in Inez and Wednesday in Lovely.
Summer reading program events at the Collier Center include Dewey Lake Army Corps of Engineers June 7, Smokey Bear June 14, Brandon Brown of KHEAA June 21, Singing at 1 p.m. Kiersten Newsome June 21, Batman & the Batmobile noon June 28.
The schedule for Rufus Reed Branch includes Martin County Head Start June 8, Smokey Bear June 15, Brandon Brown of KHEAA June 22, and Martika from the Extension Office June 29.
