Lady Cards soccer bounces back

LOUISA — Martin County High School’s soccer team hit a four-game skid after winning the All “A” 15th Region championship. The Cards bounced back in a big way with a convincing 8-0 win at Lawrence County on Thursday.

Faith Caldwell led the way with four goals for Martin County. She assisted on three.

Laura Hale booted three goals in for the Lady Cards and assisted on two.

Kaylee Endicott pushed one through the net.

Two Lady Cardinals, Mia Preece and Emily Ledford, assisted on a goal each.

Vittoria Dellmotta earned the shutout between the posts. She had five saves on the night.

Head coach Steven Gauze has his squad in a great position for the end of the season. Sitting at 9-7, the Cards are most importantly 7-2 in their region. They are tied with Prestonsburg as the second-ranked team in the 15th Region.

Martin County’s game against Paintsville (5-8) on Tuesday (Oct. 1) was a must-win. Details were not available at press time.
