Inez thwarts Eden’s perfect season in week 6

INEZ — The Inez Indians foiled Eden’s plans for an undefeated season in week 6 of elementary girls basketball action. The following is a recap:

Eden at Inez – On Sept. 24 the Inez A-team defeated Eden in a nailbiter for their first loss of the season 24-23.

Harper Runyon fired in 11 points for the Indians to lead all scorers. Jaylea Maynard dropped in six points. Kenleigh Estep followed up with five points. Emily Mooney added a bucket for two.

Braylee Horn led Eden with nine points. Sarah McCoy bucketed five points including a 3-pointer to pull Eden within one with four seconds remaining in the game. Paislee Hinkle flipped in four points.

Paige Stafford got into early foul trouble and scored three points for the Cats. Martha Maynard bucketed two.

The Eden B-team downed Inez 19-9.

Charlie Mollett fired in six points. Kami Fletcher and Taytum Jennings poured in four each for Eden.

Harper Howell hit for three points. Remy Williams nailed a two.

Layla Cline and Kenna Hale dropped in four points each for Inez. Hope Dials sunk a free throw.

The Eden C-team snuck by with an 18-12 win.

Kyleigh Horn dropped in seven points to lead Eden. Kaydee Dials bucketed four. Williams and Lilly McCoy added three points each. Lexi Hammond bucketed one.

Inez vs Paintsville – On Sept. 23 the Inez A-team hung with Paintsville until the final minute but fell 32-27.

Harper Runyon led the Indians with 11 points.

Jaylea Maynard and Kenleigh Estep flipped in six points for the Indians.

Macie Callaham bucketed four.

The Inez B-team won 13-9.

Kenna Hale, Layla Cline and Ebony Arrowood fired in four points each.

Jasmine Hamilton added a point.

Inez at Warfield – On Sept. 25 the Inez A-team defeated Fallsburg 25-3.

Harper Runyon led all scorers with nine points.

Kenleigh Estep flipped in six points.

Jaylea Maynard and Macie Callaham added four points each for the Indians.

Emily Mooney bucketed two.

B Hall scored two for the Red Devils. McKenna Fletcher added a free throw.

The Inez B-team won 8-2. Kenna Hale fired in eight points.

Kenna Hale and Layla Cline shared scoring honors with four points each.

Gabby Mann scored two for Warfield.

The Warfield C-team squeaked by with a 10-8 win.

Brooklyn Nichol scored all 10 of Warfield’s points.

Hope Dials dropped in five for Inez. Emily Mollette hit a shot for two. Ebony Arrowood added a free throw.

Warfield vs Salyersville – On Sept. 24 the Warfield A-team fell to Salyersville 14-4.

Payzlee Fletcher and Baylee Hall led the Red Devils with two points a piece.

The B-team fell 10-1.

Reagan Baisden scored Warfield’s point.

The C-team came away with the 11-9 win.

Brooklyn Nichol fired in seven to lead the Red Devils. Ryle and Aleaha Bryant flipped in a bucket each for two.
