INEZ — Martin County fell behind early and could not make a comeback in an 11-3 loss to Johnson Central May 2 at Cardinal Park.
Johnson Central fired up the offense in the first inning when Conner LeMaster homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
The Cardinals trailed 2-1 heading into the top of the second inning.
Johnson Central scored seven runs in the next four innings, four of those in the fifth, while the Cards failed to convert.
Martin County brought in two more runs in the sixth while Johnson Central added two in the seventh to set the final score.
LeMaster earned the win for Johnson Central. The fireballer allowed eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one.
Chase Preece took the loss for Martin County. He allowed three hits and four runs over three innings, striking out five.
Martin County tallied eight hits on the day. Preece and Evan Crum led the way with two hits apiece. Greyden Proctor, Chase Stacy, Aidan Horn and Dennison Davis accounted for one hit apiece.
