Volley Cards win scrimmage

INEZ — The Martin County High School volleyball team took down Mann 25-14, 25-16 in a scrimmage Aug. 13 in Inez.

The Lady Cards are set to begin their regular season this week with two matches versus Phelps.

Martin County will host the Cardinal Classic on Aug. 24 for a round-robin with Tug Valley, Prestonsburg and Huntington in Inez.

On Aug. 28, they will play at the All-A tournament in Pikeville.

The Cards travel to take on the Johnson Central Eagles on Sept. 2 for a district match-up. On Sept. 9 they go to Tug Valley and Sept. 10 to Magoffin County.

The Eagles come to Inez on Sept. 23. The Cards head to Prestonsburg the next night and Paintsville will be in town on Sept. 25.

The Lady Cards will open October at Paintsville on Oct. 3. Magoffin County Hornets will be at Martin County on Oct. 10 before the Cardinals travel to Lawrence County for their final regular season match Oct. 15.

Most games are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with the junior varsity squad taking the floor first and varsity to follow.
