Floyd County man sentenced to 50 years for child pornography

PIKEVILLE — A Harold man got a 50-year federal prison sentence for producing and distributing child pornography.

Christopher Hall, 26, was sentenced Aug. 14 in Pikeville by Chief U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves.

Hall admitted in a plea agreement that he recorded himself sexually abusing a minor May 29, 2022. He then distributed the video to others using the messaging platform WhatsApp.

Under federal guidelines, Hall must serve at least 85% of his sentence. Following his release, he will be subject to 10 years of supervision by the U.S. Probation Office.

The sentence was announced by Carlton S. Shier IV, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Michael E. Stansbury, the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Louisville Field Office; and Col. Phillip J. Burnett Jr., the Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police.

The FBI and the Kentucky State Police conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Blankenship prosecuted the case.
