1949—2024

Betty Lou (Dials) McCoy, age 75, of Inez, passed away Aug. 14, 2024, at her residence.

Born Feb. 18, 1949, in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Vernal and Kizzie (Fletcher) Dials.

Betty was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Van Avory McCoy; five brothers, Woodrow, Paul Richard, Martin, Gary and Tony Dials; and two sisters, Tilda Moore and Barbara Sue Rose.

Survivors include Betty’s four daughters, Kitty (Harold) Preece of Inez, Lisa (Ronnie) Lowe of Debord, Tabitha (Arthur) Preston of Georgetown and Jessica (Steven) Workman of Warfield; and two sisters, Bonnie Chaffins and Phyllis (Richard) Goble, both of Inez. She also leaves behind one sister-in-law, Mildred Blackburn of Debord; 10 grandchildren, Ronnie (Hannah) Lowe, Kelli (Austin) Myers, Kayla (Jayden) Clark, Kerri (Zach) Anderson, Avory Lowe, Gregory (Alexis) Workman, Shantton Preece, Dylan Preston, Ryan Workman and Kara Beth Preece; six great-grandchildren, Henri Workman, Jesse Myers, Holly Anderson, Theodore Lowe, Beau David Clark and Sophie Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home, Inez, with Warnie Pinson officiating. Burial followed at the McCoy Cemetery in Pilgrim. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
