INEZ — The OnPoint Swish jumped out of the gates early on the Atlanta Angels for a 104-69 win at Martin County High School. The victory puts them in a spot to earn a first-round WABA tournament home game.

The Women’s American Basketball Association ranked OnPoint after the win at third in the entire conference just behind the Raliegh Aces and DC Cyclones.

The Swish were ready right off the tip versus the Angels.

Former Kentucky Wildcat Makayla Epps received the first possession and kicked a pass to the wing for a cutting Kennedi Stacy. Ten seconds into the game Stacy nailed the 3 and OnPoint never looked back.

Hometown star Carla Booth kept things going a minute later when she nailed a quick three.

The following Swish possession Stacy drove in the lane for a floater to extend the lead to 8-2.

Stacy hit the assist column quickly when she dished to Javonna Layfield on the ensuing play.

Dasia Thornton jumped into the passing lane for a breakaway lay-up to force the first Atlanta timeout with a 13-2 Swish lead.

By halftime, OnPoint had a 59-34 lead behind five three-pointers from All-American Booth.

The Alice Lloyd Hall of Famer would cap off her MVP night when she hit her seventh three of the game with a minute remaining to hit the century mark on the scoreboard.

OnPoint wasn’t finished yet as Layfield blocked a shot and Stacy pushed the ball up the floor. She found Booth on the block who turned around with the unselfish play to Ri-Chiel McGraw for two.

The Swish hit 104 when Transylvania Champion Dasia Thornton stole the ball at the top of the key. She passed to Booth who returned it to Thornton for the final bucket of the game.

Booth was firing on all cylinders and finished with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Layfield followed with 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Dasia Thornton fired in 14 points and pulled down four boards.

Stacy hit for 13 points. Makayla Epps and Taylor Pearson scored 10 points each.

E’Moni Washington scored six points. Courtney Gillman-Fletcher hit for five points. Ri-Chiel McGraw flipped in four and Victoria Dunlap rounded out the scoring column with two.

OnPoint improved to 4-2 on the season and is second in their region.

The Swish will play their final eastern Kentucky game in Hazard on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. against the Greensboro Kaos.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for school-aged children.
