INEZ — The Martin County High School football team got a boost of motivation from Joey Stepp, magician and former Marshall University and Sheldon Clark High School standout.

The 1999 SCHS alumnus was a guest speaker to the team on Thursday.

Stepp suited up for the Cardinals from 1995 to 1998, making all-state in 1998 and playing on SCHS’s first regional championship team.

The three-time All-District and All-Area and 1998 Kentucky Lineman of the Year took his talents to Marshall University where he played football for the Herd for four years. He was on Marshall’s 2000 and 2002 Mid-American Conference championship teams.

Beyond his football accolades Stepp crafted a unique career as a motivational speaker and magician, traveling all over to captivate audiences of all kinds with his magic tricks and inspirational message.

His motivational magic show teaches athletes why living a life of “No Plays Off” can help overcome obstacles both on and off the field.
