MOUNTAIN CITIZEN
CHICAGO — Lady Cardinals player Maci Maynard attended the Nike Nationals in Chicago from July 18-22 with her Kentucky Premier EYBL 2028 team. Her squad went 5-1 and defeated Midwest Premier EYBL in the championship game to win their division.
Maynard poured in four points and pulled down six rebounds in the final-round matchup.
“There’s nothing like getting to play at the national level against some of the best players my age,” Maynard said.
“Not only is it fun and exciting, but it is very humbling. It helps you recognize your strengths along with your weaknesses and what you need to work on.”
Maynard has traveled all over with her EYBL team and still has a journey ahead of her.
On Aug. 3 she will attend the Howard University Camp in Washington before heading to Louisville on Aug. 17 for a freshman showcase.
“Getting to travel to different cities around the country is truly a wonderful experience,” added Maynard. “I’ve had a great summer and I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I’m blessed with.”
