INEZ — Martin County High School boys basketball received two transfers over the summer.

Jaxon Estridge made his way from Prestonsburg and Parker Watts from Tolsia. Both student-athletes have received invites to the prestigious Midwest Academy MadeHoops Showcase in Louisville on July 27-28.

The event will host Regional NAIA and D3 coaches with instructions and evaluations. Georgetown, Centre College, Transylvania, Campbellsville and top scouts and media will be in attendance.

The top 50 players in every class from all over the state of Kentucky are selected for the showcase.

The two basketball studs turned heads during summer play before the KHSAA dead period.

The Tolsia transfer, Watts, put up big numbers on the board for the Cardinals.

Watts is currently playing on the AAU circuit at the Myrtle Beach Sports Complex for the West Virginia Hustle for Keith Clemons. The highly touted transfer has been the Most Valuable Player in six of the seven games he has played.

Over his first three games he scored 36 points. He put up 80 points over his next four contests.

Watts led the state of West Virginia in scoring last year at a staggering 27.4 points per game.

In his three years with Tolsia, he amassed 1,497 points, 502 rebounds, 164 assists and 145 steals.

Estridge is a highly coachable guard who will make MCHS head coach Jason James’ work a little less difficult.

He averaged 8.6 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 4.2 assists over his career. The guard started varsity in his junior season at Prestonsburg High School.

Estridge plays AAU for D&D Mountain Elite. The Cardinal is also one of the first kids from eastern Kentucky to personally be invited to Eastern Kentucky’s Elite Camp that will take place Aug. 3 in Richmond.
