INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Devin Morris, 24, of Inez, was arrested Monday in Inez on charges of willfully setting fire on land not owned or controlled by him, second-degree desecration of venerated objects, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespassing.
Chief Deputy Chris Kidd arrested Morris after he, along with two unidentified individuals, set fire to the prayer altar on God’s Promise Trail in Inez on June 7. Morris then climbed a radio tower, removed a camera, and discarded it down a hill.
Terry Mallory, 57, of Warfield, was arrested Monday in Warfield for alcohol intoxication in a public place.
Deputy Kidd was speaking with residents at the Warfield Zip Zone when Mallory staggered out from between the buildings. According to Kidd, Mallory had a strong smell of alcohol on him and slurred his speech. Mallory also allegedly stated he had been drinking all day.
John Marcum, 43, of Lovely, was arrested Monday on KY-40 in Inez on a warrant issued by the Martin District Court charging him with criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. Deputy Kidd made the arrest.
Matthew Moore, 40, of Pilgrim, was arrested Saturday on West Eden Lane in Inez for assault, fourth degree (domestic violence), minor injury and resisting arrest.
Martin County 911 Dispatch received a call from a woman reporting that her son had assaulted her. Deputy David Reffett located the suspect, Moore, at West Eden Lane. According to the police report, when the officer attempted to handcuff Moore, he pulled away, becoming irate and combative. The deputy used a Taser to regain control and place Moore under arrest.
Mary Lynn Ayers, 45, of Lovely, was arrested Friday on Blue Jay Lane in Lovely on a bench warrant. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Kenneth Rose, 32, of Inez, was arrested Friday at the KY-645 and Milo intersection in Tomahawk for improper registration plate, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and a bench warrant for court. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest while Sheriff Kirk was the initiating officer.
Joseph E. Jude, 43, of Lovely, was arrested Friday at the intersection of KY-645 and Milo in Tomahawk on three warrants for court.
Shawn David Workman, 42, of Lovely, was charged Thursday at 981 West Main Street in Inez with criminal trespass in the third degree.
Sheriff Kirk reported that Workman was caught on camera at 2:44 a.m. on property that he knew he had no right to be on. At 4:14 a.m., the property owner arrived and caught him there again.
John H. Judd, 32, of Williamson, West Virginia, was arrested July 10 at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on two bench warrants out of Lawrence County. Sheriff Kirk made the arrest.
Homer Harless Jr., 49, of Debord, was arrested July 8 on Davella Road for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance and all-terrain vehicles violations.
According to Deputy Justin Bellamy, Sheriff Kirk conducted a traffic stop on Harless, who exhibited slurred speech but spoke in a fast-paced, wiry manner and had constricted pupils. Harless stated that he had not slept in several days but denied using any drugs. He allegedly stated that he typically used methamphetamine and claimed his last use was about five days prior.
