King in jail on rape

TOMAHAWK — A man wanted in Lawrence County on charges of first-degree rape and unlawful transaction with a minor is behind bars after his arrest late Friday night in Martin County.

John D. King, 32, of Louisa, was arrested on Trace Ridge in Tomahawk at 11 p.m.

Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Lafferty executed the Lawrence County indictment warrant.

King was indicted Jan. 13 in Lawrence County on first-degree rape and unlawful transaction with a minor in the second degree.

The indictment states King committed rape Sept. 30, 2020, by engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor who was physically helpless and induced. It also says King assisted or caused a minor to engage in illegal controlled substances activity involving marijuana.

King is in jail at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
