MATEWAN — Norfolk Southern and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 have announced a 24-hour closure for emergency rail repairs at the KY 1056 (Bridge Street) and WV 49 (Matewan) intersection. The closure, affecting a crossing located in Matewan, West Virginia, 0.08 miles north of KY 1056 and the Kentucky/West Virginia state line, will begin at 8 a.m. July 14.

Motorists are advised to plan for delays and use alternate routes when possible. Suggested detours include KY 1056 to KY 319 to US 119 to US 52 to WV 49. Norfolk Southern urges drivers to pay close attention to posted signage throughout the area.
