Tennis teams fall to Lawrence, Pikeville

Martin County High School Tennis teams had a rough couple of weeks due to weather and sickness, but the Lady Cardinals picked up a win over Paintsville before both boys and girls teams dropped back-to-back meets to Lawrence County and Pikeville.

Martin County Lady Cards got a 5-1 win over Paintsville on the road April 21.
Martin County got off to a great start in singles. Tori Crum defeated Adelle Vereanou 6-1, Emma Gulley won 6-0 over Maisie Ward, and Dakota Ward beat Maisie Ward 2-0. Aaliyah Cline lost a close 6-4 to Abbygail Preston.
The Lady Cards won two doubles as Kennedy Mills and Lexi Sammons defeated Ward and Vereanou 6-1, and Mireia Gorgori and Grace Caldwell won 6-0 over Preston and Kilgore.
