James Luther Scott
1939—2024

James Luther Scott, age 84, of Pilgrim, passed away July 6, 2024 at Highlands Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He was born July 30, 1939 in Pike County to the late Axton and June Meade Scott.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vadie Howell Scott; seven brothers, Wayne Scott, Rass Scott, Jeff Scott, Tee Scott, Leonard Scott, Ben Scott and Willard Scott; two sisters, Isabelle Lyons and Mary Collins; and one grandchild, Benjamin Grady Scott.

He is survived by two sons, James Curtis (Kara) Scott of Inez and Dennis (Patricia Miracle) Scott of Pilgrim and one brother, Paul Dean Scott of Paintsville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Alison Scott, Hannah (Cory) Stacy, Ryan (Brooke) Smith, Brady (Ashley Ward) Smith and Kaleb Smith, one great-granddaughter, BrenLynn Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Sidney Old Regular Baptist Church with Tom Dials, Richard Staton and Randall Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at the Robinson Scott Cemetery on Meathouse.

Friends may visit the funeral home Sunday and Monday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with services each night at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
