Debord native completes Army basic training at Fort Jackson

Pvt Thomas Chandler Meade

FORT JACKSON, South Carolina — Private Thomas Chandler Meade, 19, a native of Debord, Kentucky, has graduated from the United States Army Basic Combat Training, marking a milestone in his young military career.

Pvt Meade successfully completed the rigorous 10-week training program at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

He is the son of Teresa Grisco and has one sister, Jamie Meade. Pvt. Meade is also the grandson of Christine Maynard, the late David Grisco, the late Ronnie and Sharon Meade, and Judy Meade and Bo Akers.

His family, including his devoted mother and grandparents, are proud of his accomplishments. In addition, Pvt Meade has a special aunt, Merline Maynard, who holds great pride in his achievements.

A 2023 graduate of Martin County High School, Pvt Meade further honed his skills by completing the carpentry course at Carol D. Perkins Job Corps in 2024, earning him the respect of his family and community and setting a foundation for his endeavors in the Army.
