LOUISA — The “Million Dollar Holler” will be represented well at the Country Music Highway Tribute Shows in Louisa next month. Economic development nonprofit SOAR announced the lineup for a two-day festival-style celebration set to take place in downtown Louisa on July 12 and 13.

Saturday evening will wrap up with a line of heavy hitters: Ricky Skaggs, Noah Thompson and Larry Cordle. All three Nashville-based performers are originally from Brushy Creek, near Blaine, which has come to be known as the “Million Dollar Holler.”

SOAR hosted a press conference Thursday to announce the full lineup at Garden Theatre in Louisa.

“We create a stage for our 54 Appalachian counties to shine,” SOAR COO and Martin County native Joshua Ball told the press, explaining the purpose of the Country Music Highway Tribute Show series.

“This is not just a concert. It’s a convening, it’s a celebration of our culture and heritage,” said Ball.

Ricky Skaggs could not attend the press conference but sent a video message for the audience.

“The love that I have for the old sounds from the mountains has never left,” Skaggs said in the video, expressing his excitement for the “Million Dollar Holler Homecoming.”

Friday and Saturday will each feature a lineup of local musicians and vendors set up in and around Main Street Park in downtown Louisa.

Music kicks off Friday at 4:30 p.m. and will include Teagan Baldridge, Reed Baldridge, Phill Barnett, Rachel Messer & Connor Dale, Adalyn Ramey, Hannah Wheeler & Ben Fugate and the Burning Trash Band.
