Martin County Arrest report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Lawrence Tyler McCoy

Lawrence Tyler McCoy, 30, of Paintsville, was arrested Sunday at Zip Zone in Lovely. Deputy Justin Bellamy responded to a call about an individual who appeared to be passed out in the parking lot at Zip Zone. When officers arrived at the scene, they found McCoy asleep in his parked truck, lying across the full length of the cab. The officers noted the engine was shut off and the keys were on the outside top of the truck cab. According to the police report, McCoy had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. He had slurred speech, was “disoriented,” stumbling upon exiting the vehicle, and did not know how he got to Zip Zone, the report stated.

Devin T. Morris

Devin T. Morris, 24, of Inez, was arrested Saturday at the Dollar General on Blacklog Road in Inez for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Deputies responded to a call about an individual “screaming” in the parking lot at the Dollar Store. They found Morris slumped over in the driver’s seat in a parked Chevy Tahoe, the police report states. The engine was shut off and the keys were sitting in the passenger seat. Officers said that when they woke Morris, he began to scream, flail his arms and shout obscenities. Deputy Bellamy noted in his report that Morris had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, slurred speech and red glossy eyes. The deputy also reported that Morris was disoriented and that he stated he had been drinking at his brother’s house and walked from there to his parked vehicle to sleep.

Kenis Casey Bishop

Kenis Casey Bishop, 43, of Beauty, was arrested Saturday on Poplar Fork in Beauty for possession of a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia buy/possession and tampering with physical evidence. Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Poplar Fork and determined no physical altercation had occurred. While speaking with Bishop, Deputy Bellamy saw him reach into his pocket and pull some items out, quickly placing them under a couch cushion, the police report states. When questioned by the deputy, Bishop allegedly advised he had stashed “personal items.” According to the police report, upon removing the couch cushion, the deputy observed a small baggie containing a clear crystal-like substance suspected of being methamphetamine, a glass pipe with burn residue and a lighter.

Garland Ray Mills Jr.

Garland Ray Mills Jr., 50, of Pilgrim, was arrested Thursday on South Wolf Creek Road in Pilgrim on an indictment warrant. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.

James L. Hackney

James L. Hackney, 41, of Lovely, was arrested Thursday on Long Branch Road in Lovely on an indictment warrant. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.

Timothy Ramey

Timothy Ramey, 21, of Tomahawk, was arrested Thursday for contempt of court/libel/slander/resistance to order.

Chad Nichols, 40, of Lovely, was arrested Friday in the Martin County Sheriff’s Office on an indictment warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense, no registration plate, and failure of the owner to maintain required insurance, first offense. Deputy Bellamy made the arrest.

Austin Lee Johnson

Austin Lee Johnson, 22, of Inez, was arrested June 5 at Sycamore Estates in Inez for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Sheriff Kirk was dispatched to an altercation. When he arrived, Johnson had left the scene and was standing in the yard at a neighbor’s residence and cursing. Sheriff Kirk noted Johnson had a strong odor of alcohol about him and was “manifestly under the influence.” Johnson refused a field sobriety test.

Marissa L. Johnson

Marissa L. Johnson, 26, of Beauty, was arrested May 5 at Sycamore Estates in Inez for disorderly conduct and terroristic threatening. Sheriff Kirk made the arrest. According to Sheriff Kirk, Johnson began irate after her husband was arrested. She stood near the roadway cursing and threatening to harm others. When the sheriff told her to calm down, she cursed the sheriff and said, “Take me to jail” and “I will whip your [expletive].”

Helen Davis

Helen Davis, 67, of Inez, was arrested June 4 on Nichols Street in Inez for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd was called to the scene for an intoxicated woman outside yelling at other people. When he arrived, Davis had a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage on her, slurred speech and difficulty standing. She stated she had been drinking “all day.”
