Jay Douglas Kirk
1937—2024
Jay Douglas Kirk, 86, of East Kermit, West Virginia, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky.
Born Nov. 4, 1937, in Beauty, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Russell Melvin Kirk and Dora Davis Kirk.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Bullard, one grandchild, Matthew Blackburn, one niece, Tonya Mills and brother-in-law, Leroy Mills.
Survivors include Jay’s wife, Nellavine Harless Kirk; three children, Alesia (Todd Stroup) Preece of Greensboro, Georgia, Jay Douglas (Mary) Kirk II of Williamson, West Virginia, and Bud Russell (Belanda) Kirk of Kermit, West Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Christy (Bo) Bishop, Tiffany (Scott) Newcomb, Stephanie (Brian) Konitzer, Brad (Genevieve Dragalin) Preece, Cara (Kevin) Jones, Jay Douglas (Tori) Kirk III, Donavan (Anna) Kirk, Tyler (Savanna) Kirk, Trevor (Sydney) Kirk and Tanner Kirk; along with a host great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind one sister, Carol Sue Mills of Lovely, Kentucky, two nieces, Tina Mills and Tammy Mills Martin, son-in-law Dennis Bullard and special caregivers Kay Winters and Ruth Kirk.
Funeral services were conducted June 7, 2024, at the Lighthouse Community Church in East Kermit, with Keith Brumfield officiating. Burial was at the Mount View Memory Garden in Maher, West Virginia. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
